“Home Sweet Home” themed festival takes place June 16-18 at Two Rivers Park
Presented by the Glenwood Springs Chamber Foundation, Alpine Bank and Glenwood Hot Springs Resort, Glenwood Springs’ 126th Annual Strawberry Days Festival takes place June 16-18 at Two Rivers Park. The festival has been entertaining generations for more than a century and features a full entertainment lineup, an arts and crafts fair, food court, Family Fest and community parade. Thanks to generous sponsors, the event is free for the community and visitors to attend.
The Strawberry Days Main Stage, sponsored by Bighorn Toyota and Lift FM, is filled with free entertainment throughout the weekend. Cody Jeffryes kicks off the music on Friday, June 16 at 4 p.m., followed by Highway 82 Band at 6 p.m. Friday’s headliner, Funkiphino begins at 8 p.m. This 13-member, high energy funk band infuses explosive horn lines, old school Hammond organ sounds, pumping bass and intoxicating vocal harmonies.
101st Army Band will return to the Main Stage on Saturday at noon with its Hot Seven Jazz Band, Rock Band and Country Band. Saturday afternoon is filled with local favorites, Dustin Elliott & the Broken Radio at 3 p.m., followed by The Know Bodies Band at 4:30 p.m. and Echo Monday at 6 p.m. Saturday’s headliner, Ponder the Albatross, will grace the stage beginning at 8 p.m. Get ready to dance to the sounds of upbeat rock, gypsy and grass music.
During the Saturday headliner intermission, don’t miss an exciting show by Sol Fire Entertainment and Dance of the Sacred Fire. Dancing with fire uses various props like poi, hula hoops, dragon staff, fans, rope dart and more, that creates a show that you won’t forget. To top it off their performances include flamethrowers and spark machines blasting fire and sparks into the air for an incredibly exciting show.
The music doesn’t slow down on Sunday. Enjoy the sounds of Rodrigo and 11 a.m. and Los Mocochetes at noon. Peach Street Revival will close out the festival with music concluding at 4 p.m. This 4-piece female-dominated rock band from Grand Junction features classic rock, blues and punk.
In addition to the free, live entertainment, the event features a fantastic arts and crafts fair with one-of-a-kind arts and wares handcrafted by local, regional and national artists. From fine art to gourmet sauces and everything in between, buyers will delight in the assortment.
Some people come to the festival just for the food.
