In November the Family of Angel and Maria Camacho experienced a 2,000 pound boulder tumbling into their living room. After getting her foot pinned and crushed, Maria was immediately taken to the hospital. The family is beyond grateful and thankful that everyone in their family is alive and that no one in their home was killed by the boulder that dislodged from the hillside above. The scary thing is that many homes are near the hillsides of mountain towns and this could happen to anyone - AND IT DID RIGHT HERE IN NEW CASTLE!

After the incident, they reached out to their home insurance provider and discovered that the extensive damage to their home would not be covered. How can this be? They would like to get the word out to other families and let them know this is the case. 

Currently, Maria has received surgery on her foot and is now in recovery. The family starting construction on their home where the boulder raised havoc. They are glad that the tarp replacing in lieu of the wall and point of entry of the boulder will be taken down and repaired as soon as possible - December is chilly in Colorado. 

On top of the damage that happened to their home, their daughter Jazmine who is like family to us at Colorado Drifters has been fighting Type I Diabetes and is currently on a donor list for a kidney transplant. She endures pains and uncomfort from this disease far beyond what many of us can image. She is currently waiting for her match and is nearly at doctor appointments and checkups on the daily. The stress and cost the family has taken on is A LOT!
