For the fourth consecutive year, Phil Long Glenwood Springs Subaru will present a check to River Bridge Regional Center as a part of the 2024 Subaru Share the Love® Event. This year’s donation to the area nonprofit is $20,500, contributing to a cumulative $72,500 in support jointly provided by Subaru of America and Phil Long Glenwood Springs Subaru. 

Community members are invited to attend the check presentation on May 15 at 12:00 p.m. at Phil Long Glenwood Springs Subaru, located at 175 Storm King Rd, Glenwood Springs, CO 81601, followed by a light lunch. Attendees will include Phil Long Dealerships President/CEO Kevin Shaughnessy, Phil Long Dealerships EVP/COO Shawn Flynn and representatives from Subaru of America, River Bridge, and Glenwood Springs Chamber of Commerce, along with employees and other partners. 

As part of the Subaru Share the Love® Event, retailers were able to select a hometown charity that touched their local community’s heart and met various requirements, provided the charity does not harm animals, is environmentally responsible, and ensures donations are being used for the charitable mission and not administration costs. River Bridge was selected for their impact and support provided to the growing number of child sexual assault victims in Pitkin, Garfield, Eagle, and Rio Blanco counties. 

This year’s donation will support the Center’s operations, provide services for child victims of abuse, and implement programs and educational opportunities to help the community understand how to prevent child abuse. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that approximately 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 20 boys in the United States experience child sexual abuse.

From November 21, 2024, through January 2, 2025, with every new Subaru purchased or leased, Subaru of America and Phil Long Glenwood Springs Subaru, together, donated $325 to each customer’s choice of local or national charities, including River Bridge Regional Center, The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®, Make-A-Wish®, Meals on Wheels America and the National Park Foundation. Additionally, Subaru of America and the retailer provided a donation for every Phil Long Subaru vehicle routine-service visit during the campaign period.

River Bridge Regional Center is a nationally accredited nonprofit child advocacy center, utilizing a childcentered, multidisciplinary approach to the prevention, assessment, and treatment of child abuse. River Bridge has served 3,172 children and 4,758 caregivers and non-offending family members since opening in 2008. Since 2017, the Mountain West SANE Alliance, a program within RBRC, has responded to 320 calls and conducted 189 medical forensic exams for adult and adolescent victims of sexual assault.
