Valley View’s Calaway-Young Cancer Center Attains National Re-Accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer

Valley View's Calaway-Young Cancer Center has received re-accreditation from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) – a rigorous, nationally recognized designation confirming the center is delivering top-tier cancer care to patients across the mountain region and the Western Slope.

To earn CoC accreditation, cancer programs must pass a thorough evaluation covering everything from diagnosis and treatment to supportive and community-based services and must undergo a site visit every three years to keep the designation. Valley View has also earned the ACS Surgical Quality Partner designation, signaling an unwavering commitment to surgical excellence and continuous improvement.

This is a big deal for a community-based, independent health system serving a largely rural region. For patients in the area, this means they have access to nationally recognized cancer care right in their backyard. There is no need to travel out of the region for top-tier treatment.

Nearly 15 years ago, Valley View made a promise to bring world-class cancer care to this community, and this re-accreditation is proof they've kept it.

Dr. Peter J. Rossi, MD, medical director of radiation oncology at Valley View and radiation oncologist at Calaway-Young Cancer Center, is available to provide expert insight on the accreditation and the value it brings to patients.
