Nominations are open for the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association’s (GSCRA)

Citizen of the Year, Top Brass Outstanding Business of the Year, Top Brass New Business of the Year, ATHENA® and ATHENA YP awards.  The community is invited to nominate deserving citizens or businesses for these awards for achievements in 2024. The nomination deadline is Friday, February 7, 2025, and nomination forms are available at glenwoodchamber.com/gala.

The Top Brass Outstanding Business of the Year award will recognize one outstanding business of the year for a major contribution that reflects commercial growth, creativity or community involvement. Alpine Bank was last year’s recipient. The Top Brass New Business of the Year will recognize an outstanding business in operation for less than three years. The 2023 recipient of this award was Bluebird Cafe.

Businesses or professionals marking career milestones will earn Top Brass anniversary certificates or plaques.

Locals are also invited to thank a noteworthy fellow citizen through the GSCRA’s Citizen of the Year Award given in the name of Dean Vogelaar, a longtime chamber director and the award’s first recipient. The award is intended to honor an individual (or in particular instances a married couple) who makes a substantial contribution to Glenwood Springs. As a result of the nominee’s efforts, the community should have received notable benefits and become a better place to live and work.  Past Colorado Mountain College President, Carrie Besnette Hauser, was the 2023 recipient of this prestigious award.

The ATHENA® Leadership Award is presented to a leader that is honored for professional excellence, community service, and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills. The ATHENA Young Professionals award recognizes an emerging leader who gives back to the community and serves as a role model for young women. The most recent ATHENA® and ATHENA Young Professionals award recipients were Lindsay Gould and Kirstie Ennis, respectively.

Award winners will be honored at the GSCRA’s Annual Gala on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Hotel Colorado.  Information about the event is available at glenwoodchamber.com/gala.
